Why this exists
I built Cratewise because nothing else just told me what was on my own shelf. Discogs prices it. RateYourMusic rates it. I wanted a tool that knew it — every pressing, every spin, filed the way I actually think about a collection. So I built that, for me first, and now for whoever else wants the same thing.

Is my shelf public by default?
No. Everything is private until you say otherwise. Publishing a shelf is a toggle you flip yourself — nothing goes public on its own.
Why pay when Discogs is free?
Discogs is free because the marketplace pays for it. Cratewise has no marketplace — no listings, no fees, no one bidding on your grails. The $2 keeps it that way.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Your collection and spin history export as CSV; everything else — profile, household, billing history — as JSON. Any time. Nothing is held hostage.
What happens to my shelf if Cratewise shuts down?
Your export works the day before that happens same as any other day. We built the exit on purpose — your collection was never ours to keep.
How does the household work?
One collection, shared by everyone in it. Invite your partner or housemates and the shelf, the spins, and the wishlist are common property — same as the actual records.
Just vinyl?
Vinyl, CD, and cassette. Owning the same album on two formats is two entries — one per physical copy, filed separately.
